South Bermondsey Area Guide
A stalwart residential heartland, where urban first-time buyers rub shoulders with established Bermondsey residents. Good value housing stock and a mix of serviced apartments and modern freehold houses. Great transport links with South Bermondsey station offering 4 minute journeys to London Bridge
Where are we?
South Bermondsey sits north of the Old Kent Road, bounded by the green open spaces of Burgess Park and Southwark Park. A commutable cycle ride from the City and central in north Southwark
Why should I buy here?
The Old Kent Road is due to get two Bakerloo Line stations and plans are afoot for ‘New Bermondsey’ station on the Overground Line.
What can I buy here?
Unusually for the proximity to central London, freeholds are in abundance here. The Thorburn Square conservation area houses a surprising number of interconnecting early Victorian Streets, while near to the station there are more recent terraces dating from the 1990s. Modern serviced apartments can be found in and around Bermondsey Works with smaller starter flats near the railway.
Where can I go out?
There are many independent breweries in South Bermondsey which often have taprooms such as Partizan Brewing and Fourpure Brewing Co. – great for beer fans. More traditional pubs surround the Blue Market, while The Grange pub in the west is a beacon for trendy drinkers.
How about going out for a meal?
Bermondsey Street offers a great range of dining options for every palate. Some of our favorites are Casse-Croûte for quality French cuisine or The Garrison if you’re after a traditional British gastropub. Staying on the independent theme; Crol & Co Café on Dunton Road offers great toasties in an authentically renovated Victorian corner shop.
